Factors affecting the bioelectrical activity of the pelvic floor muscles in menopausal women - an observational study

چکیده

During the perimenopausal and early postmenopausal periods, women experience several systemic psychological changes. They mainly concern genitourinary, central nervous, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular systems. Changes related to aging process of skin also play an important role. The aim study was evaluate influence age, selected anthropometric data (such as body weight, height, mass index (BMI) external dimensions pelvis), parameters included in questionnaires on bioelectric activity pelvic floor muscles (PFM). Postmenopausal achieved higher levels resting functional surface muscle electromyography (sEMG PFM), indicating that PFM function improves over years following menopause. Women who report significant symptoms urinary incontinence had a lower tone. This may prove functions PFM, during activity. However, this results requires further verification based larger group usage specialized methods assessing degree type incontinence.

Bioelectrical activity of the pelvic floor muscles after 6-week biofeedback training in nulliparous continent women.

PURPOSE The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of a 6-week sEMG-biofeedback-assisted pelvic floor muscle training program on pelvic floor muscle activity in young continent women. METHODS Pelvic floor muscle activity was recorded using a vaginal probe during five experimental trials. Biofeedback training was continued for 6 weeks, 3 times a week. Muscle strenghtening and endurance e...

The Evaluation of Bioelectrical Activity of Pelvic Floor Muscles Depending on Probe Location: A Pilot Study

OBJECTIVES The main objective was to determine how the depth of probe placement affects functional and resting bioelectrical activity of the PFM and whether the recorded signal might be dependent on the direction in which the probe is rotated. PARTICIPANTS The study comprised of healthy, nulliparous women between the ages of 21 and 25. OUTCOME MEASURES Bioelectric activity of the PFM was re...

Bioelectrical activity of the pelvic floor muscles during synchronous whole-body vibration--a randomized controlled study.

BACKGROUND More and more frequently stress urinary incontinence affects young healthy women. Hence, early implementation of effective preventive strategies in nulliparous continent women is essential, including pelvic floor muscle training. An initial evaluation based on the bioelectrical activity of the pelvic floor muscles (PFM) during whole-body vibration (WBV) would help to devise the best ...

Assessment of bioelectrical activity of synergistic muscles during pelvic floor muscles activation in postmenopausal women with and without stress urinary incontinence: a preliminary observational study

OBJECTIVE Muscles such as adductor magnus (AM), gluteus maximus (GM), rectus abdominis (RA), and abdominal external and internal oblique muscles are considered to play an important role in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI), and the relationship between contraction of these muscles and pelvic floor muscles (PFM) has been established in previous studies. Synergistic muscle activa...

Impact of Different Body Positions on Bioelectrical Activity of the Pelvic Floor Muscles in Nulliparous Continent Women

We examined pelvic floor muscles (PFM) activity (%MVC) in twenty nulliparous women by body position during exercise as well as the activation of abdominal muscles and the gluteus maximus during voluntary contractions of the PFMs. Pelvic floor muscle activity was recorded using a vaginal probe during five experimental trials. Activation of transversus abdominis, rectus abdominis, and gluteus max...
